Dynamics of the Earth's magnetosphere during October-November 2003 magnetic storms

The magnetospheric response on CMEs taking place during October-November 2003 will be studied on the base of data analysis and in terms of global magnetospheric modelling. The magnetopause form and location as well as its dynamics will be estimated by existing magnetopause models and using the data of magnetopause crossections obtained from geosynchronous satellites. The parameters of large-scale magnetospheric current systems will be determined from independent spacecraft\'s and onground measurements. The preliminary analysis of the dynamics of magnetospheric current systems will be carried out on the base of calculations in terms of paraboloid model of the Earth\'s magnetosphere. The injection rate into the ring current, auroral oval location, auroral convection patterns and relative contributions of magnetospheric sources into Dst will be estimated during intense magnetic storms on 28-31 October and 20-22 November, 2003.
