Global Ring Current Precipitation Patterns based on ENA Imaging in October and November 2003
Pollock C., Isaksson A., Mitchell D., Moore T.,

The extreme events in late 2003 were characterized by very intense ion precipitation from the ring current. We present global images of this precipitation using ENA observations obtained from the Low (LENA), Medium (MENA), and High (HENA) energy neutral atom imagers on IMAGE. We compare these observations with signatures predicted based on models of the precipitating (or near-precipitating) ions' interactions with Earth's upper atmosphere. Finally, we present estimates of the global energy input based on our observations.
